My Reflection:
As a SCIT, I bring cultural awareness to the classroom. I do this by addressing multicultural issues that diversity brings, such as understanding how to communicate and effectively interact with students across different cultures. It involves me being aware of my cultural worldviews, gaining knowledge of different cultural practices, and developing cross-cultural skills.

Some key skills I have developed are awareness, knowledge, skills, and attitude. My awareness involves recognizing my own cultural biases and perspectives. I no longer allow these misunderstandings to get in the way of my better helping the student body. Knowledge-wise, I have learned about the different cultural practices and worldviews of the students. This keeps me open to situations that may arise within the student body as well as among co-workers, administration, and parents. It takes the skills I have improved upon that have helped me develop the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. My attitude values and respects these cultural differences because what makes us special are those very differences that God has woven within each of us. Cultural competence is essential in fostering an inclusive environment while promoting mutual respect.
